Hope unheard

Hope unheard
One sorry bird
Its feathers ruffled so

It asks for naught
As Dickinson sought
Ephemeral birds to preen

The year has passed
Images last
Hope flies flits
Yet uncaged

Tis not the stuff of garden lore
It’s life
So turn the page
