I would like to know if I can access your stories/poems/literature so that I can use them as material to sensitize people on disability issues. If yes, let me know how I can access it.
I live in India, Secunderabad and work for an NGO that works on women’s issues.

Hi all, was wondering if you could help me out? I run a centre for young women with disabilities here in Kenya and was wondering if you could supply any poems which I could use in class? It would be wonderful if anyone would be able to share their stories and I can then pass these on to the young women. Thanks very much
Hi Andree,
Since I’ve written everything on here myself except for one poem, I don’t have other people I can ask to provide new materials for your class and I work so I don’t have time to do that. But many teachers use the poems that are already up on this site in their classes, if you’d like to do that.
Hi, i am a Kenyan lady with a disability, i too run a small group of women affected by disabilities either directly or indirectly, so you can ask any question and i will be glad to share with you, you can reach me on awardcbo@gmail.com thanks for being part of the disabled world.
Hi Ruth sorry for the confusion, I was unable to access anyone of the poems due to very slow internet connection here in Kenya but not I can see all of your great work
Hi. I manage a library in Second Life which contains only books (both fiction and poetry) by disabled authors. I have read many of the poems and stories on this site and am wondering if I could use some to to place in this library. All credit would go to the author as well as an URL to this location in the notecard.
This is an excellent site. 🙂
I am a 10th grade teacher in Florida looking for a story to replace an excerpt of “My Left Foot.” Any suggestions on stories which carry the theme of learning to live with a disability?
On this site, there’s a story called Grandpa’s Tree which talks about how a family learns to live with their son’s disability, taking the lead from him. The story Trophies is about a high school football player who deals with learning how to live with a disability after being shot.
I invite my readers to add to this list, but will point you toward the writings of Kenny Fries, who is a poet and essayist .
Many thanks for writing “SHORT STORIES: With Disability
Themes | A Different Light”. I actuallymay certainly be coming back for more reading through and
writing comments soon. Thanks a lot, Hannah
Howdy! This blog post couldn’t be written any better! Looking through this post reminds me of my previous roommate! He continually kept talking about this. I’ll send this article to
him. Fairly certain he’ll have a good read. I appreciate you for sharing!
I really was initially browsing for suggestions for my personal
blog site and discovered your blog post, “SHORT STORIES: With Disability Themes | A Different Light”, would you
care if perhaps I really implement some of ur tips?
Thx ,Ernesto
I’m really enjoying the theme/design of your web site. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A couple of my blog readers have complained about my site not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this issue?
My name is Tracey Hicks and I am 29 living in Perth Western Australia. I was born with spina bifida and I have had the passion to write for quite a while about my life living with a disability. I want to get the message out there that it isn’t all bad having a disability, in fact, it has only shaped the strong person I have become today. I believe I have three (if not more books within me). I have the idea of centreing my books around my disability and turning it into a fictionally told story. I have different ideas but putting it all together is proving difficult. Once this process is done and I have written them, would it be possible to have them published within your company?
Hi Tracey,
Thank you for your message. It’s always nice to hear from other writers. Unfortunately, I don’t have a publishing company. I encourage you to keep writing and submitting your work. Your voice about your experiences in living with a disability is an important part of the fabric of society and should be heard. Keep at it and let me know how things are going.
Best wishes,
Ruth

Hi there, I’m looking for some short stories I can use in the peer assistant curriculum I’m developing. I’m a special education teacher working with a moderate/severe population, and I’ve started a peer program that I want to bolster through the use of literature and other media. Please let me know whether you would allow me to use your work. Thank you!
Please feel free to use any of my work on this site free for educational purposes, as long as you attribute a copyright on any distributed copies. I have also published a few inexpensive Kindle books in a series of reading materials for children and young adults that you can purchase if interested.
