      Hi im looking for poem about disabled childrien. I have a disabled child in i have just read gods buitful butterfly poem in found it verry touching. I cant seem to find anyother poems like this.

    Hi all, was wondering if you could help me out? I run a centre for young women with disabilities here in Kenya and was wondering if you could supply any poems which I could use in class? It would be wonderful if anyone would be able to share their stories and I can then pass these on to the young women. Thanks very much

      Hi Andree,
      Since I’ve written everything on here myself except for one poem, I don’t have other people I can ask to provide new materials for your class and I work so I don’t have time to do that. But many teachers use the poems that are already up on this site in their classes, if you’d like to do that.

    Hi. I manage a library in Second Life which contains only books (both fiction and poetry) by disabled authors. I have read many of the poems and stories on this site and am wondering if I could use some to to place in this library. All credit would go to the author as well as an URL to this location in the notecard.
    This is an excellent site. 🙂

    I am a 10th grade teacher in Florida looking for a story to replace an excerpt of “My Left Foot.” Any suggestions on stories which carry the theme of learning to live with a disability?

      On this site, there’s a story called Grandpa’s Tree which talks about how a family learns to live with their son’s disability, taking the lead from him. The story Trophies is about a high school football player who deals with learning how to live with a disability after being shot.

      I invite my readers to add to this list, but will point you toward the writings of Kenny Fries, who is a poet and essayist .

    To Whom It May Concern

    My name is Tracey Hicks and I am 29 living in Perth Western Australia. I was born with spina bifida and I have had the passion to write for quite a while about my life living with a disability. I want to get the message out there that it isn’t all bad having a disability, in fact, it has only shaped the strong person I have become today. I believe I have three (if not more books within me). I have the idea of centreing my books around my disability and turning it into a fictionally told story. I have different ideas but putting it all together is proving difficult. Once this process is done and I have written them, would it be possible to have them published within your company?
